The Travel Edit

Your monthly source for travel insights, destination inspiration, and expert planning advice.

Hey y'all - Ashlee here from Just Another Wagner Adventure. I hope your summer is off to a great start! If you've been following along on social, you’ve likely already caught wind of some big changes happening for our family.

A little backstory… I started Just Another Wagner Adventure after stepping away from a 10-year career in executive search to pursue something that felt a lot more aligned... helping people design lives filled with travel, curiosity, and a bit more freedom. Travel has been a huge part of our story as a family too. We’ve been fortunate to explore over 40 countries together, and those experiences have shaped how I see the world and how I approach this business every day.

Since launching, I’ve had the privilege of planning more than 230 trips across 55+ countries for clients, and I’m so incredibly grateful for every single person who’s trusted me with their travels.

The last year has been a huge season of change for our family. Alongside growing Just Another Wagner Adventure, I launched an insurance brokerage, stepped more deeply into content creation, and leaned into property management in a bigger way, both with our own rental portfolio and by partnering with a local women-owned business here in Greensboro.

At the same time, we’ve been in the thick of international adoption paperwork again, completing our home study, dossier and everything else that comes with it. And then there was a surprise phone call that changed everything in the best way: we were matched with the final piece of our family puzzle, Indy.

Even with all of that excitement, something still felt a little misaligned. The pace, the pressure, the constant juggling... it's a lot. There were bigger challenges too, like navigating our kids in school with weekly school shootings all over the U.S. and living in the South as an interracial family. It all started to make us step back and really ask what kind of life we were building.

A turning point came last summer during a two-month cross-country road trip in our camper. Somewhere between long drives, slow mornings, and time together without the usual noise, things started to feel clearer. So we made a big decision: we’re going full-time on the road as a family.

We bought a used 43’ camper that we’re currently renovating and getting ready for life on wheels, and we’ll officially be hitting the road July 31st. Right now, we’re in full prep mode: getting our home ready to Airbnb, wrapping up projects, and planning what it actually looks like to step into this next chapter.

We know there are a lot of questions like how long will we do this, will we actually like it, what happens next & more. The honest answer is: we don’t have it all mapped out. Our current plan is to travel until we head to South Africa to meet Indy, but even that is flexible as life continues to unfold. We’re currently planned for travel through early-2027, when we’ll return to Greensboro to update our adoption paperwork, and then we'll head west before we embark on an Alaskan cruise as a family!

Now, here's the reason why we're here... I've decided to launch The Travel Edit, a monthly collection of inspiration, insider insight, and thoughtfully curated travel ideas designed to help you plan better, travel deeper, and experience more with less overwhelm.

Here, you’ll find destination highlights, real client itineraries, behind-the-scenes travel advisor tips, and the kind of honest travel talk you don’t usually see in highlight reels. Think of it as your monthly pause a refined edit of where to go, how to get there, and why it matters.

This is the next chapter in something I’ve been working towards for a while: a space where travel feels both inspiring and intentional, not overwhelming or out of reach. My hope is that The Travel Edit becomes a little pause in your month, something you can look forward to opening, where you can gather ideas, feel more confident in your travel decisions, and maybe even start imagining places you didn’t have on your radar before. I’m so glad you’re here for this first one, and I can’t wait to see where it takes all of us.

If you want to follow along more closely with our family, we’ll also be launching our weekly blog Wagners on Wheels in August 2026 once we officially hit the road full time. That’s where we’ll share day-to-day life as a full-time traveling family.

Where our clients are headed this month:

Travel should feel exciting, not overwhelming, and that’s where I come in. Whenever you’re ready to plan, we’ll take it from inspiration to itinerary. 🤍

Cheers & Bon Voyage,

Ashlee

The Travel Edit Your monthly source for travel insights, destination inspiration, and expert planning advice. August officially marks our first month as a full-time traveling family (and is the main reason why this is coming out a little late this month!). After months of planning, downsizing, and preparing, we traded our traditional home for our 43-foot RV and hit the road to explore the United States with our girls (and our furry travel crew!). We’re embracing slower mornings, new...

Wagners on Wheels Weekly stories from our home on wheels, where it’s more than miles, it’s the story we’re writing along the way. If there was one word to describe last week, it would be bittersweet. We officially closed the chapter for now on our life in Greensboro and began the one we've been dreaming about & working so hard for. One Last Week at Home ❤️ Our final week in Greensboro was filled with playdates, one last field trip, lots of goodbye hugs, and soaking up every last moment with...

Wagners on Wheels Weekly stories from our home on wheels, where it’s more than miles, it’s the story we’re writing along the way. I've thought about how to start this week's newsletter too many times. Every version somehow turned into a novel, and the truth is this has probably been the busiest week we've had in years (and that's saying a lot). Honestly... probably since we were preparing for (and then living through) our last trip to South Africa. So I'm going to try to keep in short & sweet...
